Looking for a unique and unusual lamp? Then you may want to check or even make yourself a beautiful light from an ostrich egg. It gives a wonderful warm light and combines African flair with European design.
Ostrich egg lamps have a long tradition in Africa. They can be found in mosques where the ostrich eggs symbolizes the Eye of God as a sign of his presence. The bushmen hung those eggs on the barren thorny bushes at the edge of the desert praying for children.
Ostrich eggs can also be found in old convent churches: set in silver, precious stones and pearls as a requisite for Easter or as an illuminated decoration on chandeliers.
